FAQ

Answers to common questions about our organization's mission and operations:

What does Gideon's Army do?

Gideon's Army funds and deploys volunteer agents worldwide to provide direct intervention services, including the rescue and relocation of human trafficking survivors. Our agents partner with law enforcement and other strategic partners to gather evidence, build cases, provide logistical help, and dismantle trafficking networks. We also conduct trauma-informed crisis support in the field and connect survivors to aftercare services.

How are donations used?

We are proud to say that NONE of our volunteers are on a payroll - not even our Founder or Board of Directors. This means that every dollar donated goes directly to funding rescue operations. This includes covering the expenses such as travel, accommodations, equipment, and other mission-related costs. Your generosity allows our missions to continue.

How do rescue operations work?

Gideon's Army has two core programs:

  1. Domestic (U.S-based) Task Force - This specialized team focuses on building and executing safe exit plans and transport assistance to survivors of human trafficking, connecting them to aftercare services. Additionally, this team also assists law enforcement with evidence gathering and case building, for the purpose of dismantling trafficking networks.

  2. International Rescue & Rehabilitation - Volunteers from Gideon's Army routinely attach to and deploy with other international rescue organizations. These agents and organizations focus on tackling the sex tourism epidemic that plagues regions across Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. These operations mainly consist of assisting local and national law enforcement with case building and rescue/raid operations.

do you rescue adults?

Yes! During operations we often come across women who are above the age of 18. These women are rescued and brought to a safe location, where they are provided with essential resources to recover and heal properly. It is important to note that there are also men and boys that can be survivors of sex trafficking, although this is not the usual demographic that we come across. Labor trafficking is more common amongst male populations, although females can also be survivors of labor trafficking as well. There is no one "set" demographic of "survivor." Human trafficking affects people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, religions, and so on.

How do I report a case of suspected human trafficking?

If you witness human trafficking or sexual exploitation and/or if someone is in imminent danger, contact local law enforcement immediately. If you have information about suspected human trafficking or sexual exploitation, or if you or someone you know are experiencing or being affected by trafficking, please contact one of our resources listed in our "Contact us" tab.

ARE YOU A VIGILIANTE GROUP?

No. Gideon's Army is not an illegal entity. We are committed to operating in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Our activities are conducted responsibly, and when appropriate and/or legally required, in direct coordination with licensed service providers, verified partner organizations, and relevant authorities. Gideon's Army maintains strict policies prohibiting vigilantism, paramilitary activity, or any form of illegal behavior. All volunteers are required to follow established policies and operational guidelines designed to protect the safety, dignity, and legal rights of everyone involved.
